When deciding upon the perfect Valentine’s gift for that special someone, chocolates, flowers or jewelry are nice, but what most couples want is quality time together.
Think about the last time you and your loved one spent time together, without distraction, just enjoying each other’s company. According to a Travelocity survey, this probably doesn’t happen often. In fact, chances are you spend more time commuting to work each week than you do with your partner. The Travelocity survey estimates that the average couple spends about six hours per week together. In fact, 59 per cent admit to spending fewer than 10 hours per week with their significant other.
A couple who travels together, stays together
The survey also found that more than half (56 per cent) of respondents currently in a relationship think that a romantic getaway is important to keep the “spark” going. So fan the flames of love this Valentine’s Day by planning your next holiday together.
Where in the world do you want to go?
When looking beyond our borders for a vacation, Canadians tend to favour holiday destinations in the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France and Cuba. But the fact is you don’t need to leave Canada to spend quality time with your loved one. If travelling across Canada is more your thing, this is the year to do it! Both the New York Times and the Lonely Planet picked Canada as the number one destination to visit in 2017, and there’s a reason for that.
No matter where your travels take you, travel smart.
If you’re taking your loved one on a romantic getaway outside of Canada this Valentine’s Day, you’ll want to pack your travel insurance policy right alongside your passport. No, travel insurance is not romantic, but it is smart and helpful in case of an emergency. Compare travel insurance quotes and policies today, before you vacation with your Valentine.
