Landscaping Insurance
Why do I need Landscaping Insurance
Your landscape business will be working offsite at clients’ properties, which means there is always a risk of causing property damage or bodily injury. A commercial general liability policy will protect you and your business from financial loss due to a client suing you for property damage or bodily injury your negligence may have caused.
As a Landscaper, do I need Commercial Property Insurance?
Typically, as a landscaper, you may own or rent a shop. If you own a shop, you will want to make sure it is insured correctly on a commercial property policy. Often people may be using outbuildings on their own personal property for commercial use. It is important to that these outbuildings are insured on a commercial property policy, as they would not be covered under your personal home policy.
Tool Floater for Landscapers
Most commercial property forms restrict coverage on your property to your premises, however, a tool floater will extend coverage for your tools to off premise exposures. Tools that have significant value are typically scheduled on your policy with a dollar limit of insurance. There is also coverage available on a blanket basis, which would provide coverage for all smaller tools like trimmers, blowers and hand tools.
Contractors Equipment Floater for Landscapers
This coverage is for movable equipment, like skid steers, excavators, tractors and larger pieces of equipment. This coverage can be offered on a scheduled basis, meaning each piece of equipment is listed on the policy with separate values. Or, for larger operations with significant amounts of moveable equipment, coverage can be offered on a blanket basis.
Installation Floater for Landscapers
As a landscaper, you may often have material and supplies onsite waiting for installation. An installation floater will provide coverage for your property or property which you may legally be liable for. Typically, coverage is provided for loss to property while in transit, while awaiting installation, or during installation.
How Much does Landscape Insurance Cost
Landscape insurance policies will vary depending on your company’s specific operations. Operations can range from small operators doing seasonal lawncare and property maintenance to large commercial landscaping companies doing hardscapes and winter snowplowing or property maintenance. There are many factors that will play into your insurance premium. James Campbell Insurance works with some of the top insurance companies in Canada and can help you and your landscape business secure the right coverage at the right price.

Our family has used them for years and I only wish I had switched sooner. Having a dedicated broker to help walk through insurance questions has been invaluable (our past insurance company was a different call centre rep each time). Lesley is fabulous and we have also had great experiences with Terri-Lynn and Karen.
